Title of cartoon:Ground Zero Color Cartoon#16
What action is taking place in the cartoon?
Cardow’s cartoon is somewhat humorous, creating the contrast between the White House and an Osama Bin Laden water park. Above the White House is the text, “ Once President Obama approved a Mosque near Ground Zero, everything else became fair game”. Cardow is insinuating that the Osama water park near the White House is comparative to the Mosque near Ground Zero. Another aspect of the cartoon is that the American flag looks very small and overcome by the bright water park sign. This could be symbolic of the President’s lack of respect or “true” american values as seen by Cardow.
Tone of the cartoon:
1) positive or negative framing of people of color and/or diversity issues (circle answer)
2) challenges or reinforces racist attitudes (Circle answer)
What “reality” is constructed/framed about racial minorities and/or diversity issues
Although the cartoon does not feature people of muslim descent, the overall tone of the cartoon frames Muslims in a negative manner. It reinforces the racist attitudes towards Muslims because it demeans their mosque by comparing it to an outrageous water park by the White House, and associating it with Osama Bin Laden. The cartoonist creates the idea that if President Obama allows the building of the mosque there’s nothing he wouldn’t allow. Even a water park named after a terrorist next to a government landmark would be “fair game”.

Title of cartoon: Obama and the Mosque Color Cartoon# 1
What action is taking place in the cartoon?
This cartoon shows President Obama supporting both the pro side of the mosque and the con side of the mosque. The cartoon is making fun of President Obama’s indecisive reasoning in deciding on what stance to take on the issue. President Obama is also been accused recently of just trying to win votes. This cartoon is may also be saying that President Obama is just supporting everyone in hopes to win votes.
Tone of the cartoon:
1) positive or negative framing of people of color and/or diversity issues (circle answer)
2) challenges or reinforces racist attitudes (Circle answer)

What “reality” is constructed/framed about racial minorities and/or diversity issues?
In this cartoon the Muslim man in support of the mosque is wearing a traditional wrap. The man opposing the mosque is dressed as a “redneck.” The reality that this cartoon creates is that all those in favor of the mosque are terrorists, and all those opposed to the mosque are rednecks. The cartoon also makes it seem that President Obama cannot pick a side on the issue and that he is indecisive.

Title of cartoon: Ground Zero Mosque COLOR Cartoon# 2
What action is taking place in the cartoon?
In this cartoon President Obama is hammering in a sign that says “coming soon ground zero mosque” on the graves of the 9/11 victims.  The cartoon is saying that in his attempts to make the Muslim population feel more like Americans, President Obama is forgetting about or not caring about the lives lost in the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the twin towers.  The Muslim in the cartoon seems to have a sly smile on his face as well. Symbolizing that the Muslim race is in favor of not caring about the 9/11 victims and having President Obama on their side.
Tone of the cartoon:
1) positive or negative framing of people of color and/or diversity issues (circle answer)
2) challenges or reinforces racist attitudes (Circle answer)

What “reality” is constructed/framed about racial minorities and/or diversity issues?
The reality that is constructed in this cartoon is that President Obama is in favor of supporting the Park 51 mosque. Also, having President Obama essentially forgetting about the 9/11 victims in his support to try and make peace with Muslim Americans.

Title of cartoon: MOSQUE, COLOR Cartoon# 3
What action is taking place in the cartoon?
This cartoon once again is showing President Obama’s inconstancy to take a stance on the park 51 mosque.   You can clearly identity it is President Obama because of the large ears. By having footprints all over the place and signs saying “right here”, “there” “over here”, it shows that President Obama is all over the place when it comes to take a stance on the issue.  President Obama also seems to be smiling. This implies that the Present knows exactly what he is doing, acting like a politician.
Tone of the cartoon:
1) positive or negative framing of people of color and/or diversity issues (circle answer)
2) challenges or reinforces racist attitudes? Neither. The cartoon is about the issue it's self. It has nothing to do with Muslims.

What “reality” is constructed/framed about racial minorities and/or diversity issues?

The reality that is constructed by this cartoon is that President Obama cannot make up his mind on where to stand on the issue of Park 51. It shows that he is all over the place. Telling one person one thing, and another person another. Also, by having President Obama knowing know he his confusing people is shows that the President Obama has full knowledge of what he is doing.

Title of cartoon: Obama and Ground Zero Mosque Cartoon# 4
What action is taking place in the cartoon?
In this cartoon President Obama is making the first dig for the Park 51 mosque. By having his say, “welcome to the neighborhood." There is also a huge sign that clearly marks that the spot that the President is digging in, is the spot in which the new Mosque is being built.

 Tone of the cartoon:
1) positive or negative framing of people of color and/or diversity issues (circle answer)
2) challenges or reinforces racist attitudes? Neither. This another cartoon that shows noracist attitude to President Obama in a positive or negative way.

What “reality” is constructed/framed about racial minorities and/or diversity issues?
The cartoon creates the reality that President Obama is in full support of this Park 51 mosque. President Obama is shown as throwing the dirt on the grave of the 9/11 victims.  Not only is he in full support but he is making the first dig onto a construction site. This is a great honor, an honor for someone who is in full support of the construction site.
